INTRODUCTION
On April 28, 2008, the Water Board authorized the City of Farmington staffto advertise for bids
on converting all water meters over to the badger Orion reads and the install of approximately
5300 of them.

DISCUSSION
An Advertisement for Bids was placed in the Farmington Independent and one sealed bid was
received by the City. The company providing a bid for this request was as follows:

module register/module 5,297 w/tax
. and meter meters/modules
Dakota Supply Group $191,665.92 $486,624.06 $280,741.00 $959,030.98
The bid submitted by Dakota Supply Group for the Water meters/install meets the required
specifications.
BUDGET IMPACT
At the April 28, 2008 meeting, the Water Board authorized the conversion in an amount not to
exceed $1,000,000.00. The bid came in $40,969.02 under the authorized amount.
ACTION REQUESTED
Adopt the attached resolution awarding the bid to DSG for the purchase and installation of the
Badger Orion meters/modules.

RESOLUTION No. R01-08
AWARDING BID FOR
PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
WATER METERS AND RADIO FREQUENCY MODULES
for
BADGER ORION READING SYSTEM
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Water Board of the City of
Farmington, Minnesota, was held in Conference Room A of said City on the 27th day of May,
2008 at 7:00 p.m.

seconded the following:
WHEREAS, pursuant to properly published notice, bids were received, opened and tabulated,
which complied with the advertisement; and
WHEREAS, the Water Board has received a recommendation from the Director of Municipal
Services on the award for the purchase and installation of Badger Orion meters/modules.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Farmington hereby awards the
contract for the purchase and installation of the Badger Orion meters/modules to Dakota Supply
Group of Burnsville, Minnesota for a total bid amount of$959,030.98.
This resolution adopted by recorded vote of the Farmington Water Board in open session on the
27th day of May, 2008.
