TO: Mayor, City Council Members, Park and Recreation Advisory Commission
Members, Planning Commission Members and City Administrator
FROM: Randy Distad, Parks and Recreation Director
SUBJECT: Community Survey Presentation
DATE: August 5,2010
INTRODUCTION
The City Council approved the hiring of the consulting firm of Leisure Vision (a division of ETC
Institute) to complete a community survey on parks, trails, recreational facilities, recreation
programs and storm water management.
DISCUSSION
The community survey has been completed and the results will be presented at the August 9,
2010 City Council workshop. The City contracted with Leisure Vision (the Consultant) for 400
surveys to be returned and tabulated. However the contract also stipulated that the Consultant
would tabulate returned surveys beyond the 400 that was contracted for. I am pleased to inform
you there were 623 surveys returned and tabulated, which exceeded the contracted amount of
400 returned surveys.
The workshop will be held in the City Council Chambers and will be televised. Arrangements for
the workshop will be as follows:
. The City Council members will sit at the dais
. Staff will sit at the tables
. Park and Recreation Advisory Commission and Planning Commission members will sit
in the chairs in the audience
. The Consultant will make a power point presentation at the podium
The Consultant has informed me that they do not distribute the final survey report in advance of
the presentation because they have found from past experiences the results can be misinterpreted
prior to the presentation, which can create issues in the community. Therefore, the final survey
report will be distributed to you at the August 9,2010 workshop. If you should have any
questions, please don't hesitate to contact me either by phone at 651-280-6851 or by email at
