McKnight, City Administrator SUBJECT: Police Department Workplace Safety Presentation DATE: March 10, 2014 INTRODUCTION Farmington Police Officers Andrew Van Dorn and Matt Hendrickson will be presenting information on workplace safety at your March 2014 work session. DISCUSSION The Farmington Police Department requested time on your work session agenda to discuss the workplace safety issue. According to the officers who will be presenting, as a result of heavy media coverage most people think of schools as the primary location of active shooter incidences. Contrary to that opinion, schools are statistically safer from violence than the average workplace. With this information in mind we have invited the City Council along with all of our other boards and commissions to hear the presentation that will be made by our officers. This presentation has already been provided to city staff members. This is an example of the public outreach that council has encouraged our departments to perform. BUDGET IMPACT NA ACTION REQUESTED Hear the presentation provided by the Farmington Police Department and ask any questions you may have. Respectfully submitted, David J. McKnight City Administrator
