CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM#169 1. Call to order at 6:00 p.m. Present Members Franceschelli,Preece,Dooley,McMillen,Consultant Robert Vogel,Assistant City Planner Wippler. Absent: None Also Present: Clyde Rath,Jeff Schlichter 2. Approval of agenda Motion by McMillen,second by Dooley to approve the agenda. APIF,Motion passed. 3. Approval of the minutes from June 28,2011. Motion by Preece,second by Dooley to approve the minutes from June 28,2011. APIF,Motion passed. 4. Public Hearings-None 5. New Business a. State Preservation Conference Commissioner Dooley expressed an interest in attending the conference. Assistant Planner Wippler will take the request to the City Council on September 6`h. 6. Continued Business a. Role of Preservation in Revitalizing the Downtown Area i. Farmington Business Association The Commission continued to brainstorm regarding preservations role in downtown revitalization. It is likely that the Consultant Vogel will submit a grant on the behalf of the HPC for an interpretation plan for such things as signage in the downtown. Jeff Schlichter and Clyde Rath from the Farmington Business Association were both present and gave the Commission an update regarding the current status of Grow Farmington. Additional discussion was held regarding the need to have a consensus or a vision for downtown that would precede a plan that is acceptable to all parties involved. b. Update—Legacy Grant Application for Heritage Resource Interpretation Plan Consultant Vogel stated that the funding cycle starts in September and that he will likely submit an application for the interpretation plan either in September or October. c. June 301 Preservation Workshop @ Farmers'Market recap Consultant Vogel mentioned that the June 30th workshop at the Farmers'Market was a success. His team plans to be back for a second workshop at the September 1'Market. 7. Reports None 8. Miscellaneous Commissioner Preece inquired whether there is anything the HPC can do in regards to the condition of the Cadwell House. Consultant Vogel stated from a historic standpoint there is nothing that this Commission can do. The property owners are not affecting the historic nature/value of the home;it is just taking them a long time to finish the work. 9.
