Walking Tour reminder--July 28th regular meeting Planning Manager Wippler reminded the Commission that it is the intent to occupy the majority of the July regular meeting with a walking tour of the downtown. 6. New Business 1 I a. Tour of Middle Creek Historic Cemetery Due to the rainy weather,the Commission decided not to visit the cemetery. The Commission will plan for a trip to the cemetery later this year. Instead,a bus tour was given to view the City's historic resources that are located outside of the downtown core area. The PRAC at its meeting on June 10,2015 identified a date and time for this joint meeting. The PRAC is suggesting Wednesday,September 9,2015 at 6pm for the date and time of the joint meeting. The meeting would be held at City Hall if this date and time works for a majority of the Commission. Downtown Walking Tour As part of the development of the Interpretation Plan the Commission will be reserving a majority of the July 28s'regular .meeting for a walking tour of the Downtown. This will provide the Commission a chance to discuss how we as a community can tell the stories of the City's neighborhoods and individual historic places. ACTION REQUESTED Determine if Wednesday,September 9,2015 at 6pm is an acceptable date and time for a joint meeting with the PRAC. Staff wanted to provide the Commission with an update regarding the status of the plan. DISCUSSION On April 21,2015,the Dakota County Community Development Agency's Board approved a Redevelopment Incentive Planning Grant in the amount of$15,000 for completion of the plan. This is a 1:1 matching grant and it is anticipated that the project will cost approximately$40,000 to complete. In June,Request For Proposals(RFP's)were solicited and the City received back four qualified proposals. An RFP Review Committee has been established to review the four proposals and will be meeting on Monday,July 27111 to review the scoring for each proposal. The review committee consists of one council member,one EDA member,one Planning Commission member,one Heritage Preservation Commission member(Chair Francesehelli),one Farmington Business Association member,Community Development Director Kienberger and myself.
