Without their buy in and participation we may have to go a different route with the plan. The focus of the interpretation plan should be on the historic resources that we have in the community, not the ones that are gone. A meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission will happen early in 2016 to discuss interpretation in the City parks. b. Update on Downtown Redevelopment Plan Planning Manager Wippler provided the Commission with an update on the Downtown Redevelopment Plan. There will be an Open House on December 15th from 5-7 pm here at the City Hall in the main lobby. All are welcome to attend. 1 6. New Business a. Boards and Commissions Reception A tentative date of January 25,2016 has been discussed by the City Council as a possible date for a boards and commissions reception. Commission Roundtable Commission Member Mohlis mentioned that when we discuss interpretation we need to target people who live outside of the downtown. Consultant Vogel stated that one of the advantages of utilizing the City Parks is that you tend to reach a broader number of people throughout the Community. There was also discussion regarding the Depot Way Arts Park and how that could be a very interesting area for interpretation. 10. However, in anticipation of having two Heritage Preservation Commission Members absent at this meeting,Randy and I have decided to reschedule the joint meeting until the HPC's regular meeting in March (March 22). The first Open House was held on December 15th at City Hall. Approximately 40-50 individuals were in attendance. Staff and the consultants received valuable comments on the two concept plans that were presented at the open house. On January 20, 2016 the Task Force reconvened to discuss a preferred concept that was developed based off comments received from the December Open House as well as the two previous Task Force meetings and City staff design charrette activity. The preferred concept is currently being refined based on comments received from the Task Force and will be on display at the second Open House. The second Open House will be held on January 30,2016 and will be held at the Farmington High School during the Community EXPO from 9:00 a.m.to noon(see attached flyer). A booth will be designated specifically for the Downtown Redevelopment Plan and will be located near the city of Farmington exhibits. All are welcome and encouraged to attend the Open House.
