MINUTES
November 24,2015

1. Call to order at 7:00 p.m.
Commission Members Present: Members Franceschelli,Lehto,McMillen,Mohlis
Commission Members Absent: Member Haley
Also Present: Planning Manager Wippler,Consultant Vogel
2. Approval of agenda
Motion by McMillen, second by Mohlis to approve the agenda. APIF,Motion passed.
3. Approval of Minutes
a. September 29,2015 Regular Meeting
Motion by McMillen,second by Lehto to approve the September 29,2015 Regular Meeting minutes as
presented. APIF,Motion passed.
4. Public Hearings
Nothing
5. Continued Business
a. Interpretation Plan Update
The most important aspect is to get the buy in from the Park and Recreation Commission. Without their
buy in and participation we may have to go a different route with the plan. The focus of the interpretation
plan should be on the historic resources that we have in the community,not the ones that are gone. A
meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission will happen early in 2016 to discuss interpretation in
the City parks.
b. Update on Downtown Redevelopment Plan
Planning Manager Wippler provided the Commission with an update on the Downtown Redevelopment
Plan. There will be an Open House on December 15th from 5-7 pm here at the City Hall in the main
lobby. All are welcome to attend.

6. New Business
a. Boards and Commissions Reception
A tentative date of January 25,2016 has been discussed by the City Council as a possible date for a
boards and commissions reception. Staff will pass on additional information to the Commission on the
date,time and location of this reception once it is officially set and available.
b. Boards and Commission Term Expirations
Planning Manager Wippler mentioned that the terms for Chair Franceschelli and Commission Member
Lehto will expire on January 31,2016. Commission Member Lehto mentioned that she will not be re-
applying for the Commission for personal reasons. The Commission wished her well in her future
endeavors.
c. 2016 Meeting Calendar
The calendar was provided to the Commission as an FYI,so they may plan ahead for the meetings in
2016.
7. Reports&Plans
Planning Manager Wippler mentioned that the yearly report has been sent to SHPO.
8. Miscellaneous
None.
9. Commission Roundtable
Commission Member Mohlis mentioned that when we discuss interpretation we need to target people who live
outside of the downtown. Consultant Vogel stated that one of the advantages of utilizing the City Parks is that
you tend to reach a broader number of people throughout the Community.
There was also discussion regarding the Depot Way Arts Park and how that could be a very interesting area for
interpretation.
