The City Council at their last meeting adopted a resolution
authorizing the sale of unused city equipment to be auctioned

the items to be auctioned . Since that time, staff has
discovered additional unused city equipment that should be

MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL
SUBJECT: SMOKE FREE BUILDING - CITY HALL
DATE: JUNE 2, 1989
Enclosed is a copy of a memo to department heads regarding a smoke free
environment.
We have three employees who currently smoke in the building; only one of
these employees objects to this action.
I received comments from all department heads that they are very much in
favor of this action. I have also enclosed a copy of Larry Thompson's memo.
I recommend that we adopt the attached proposed resolution designating the
City Hall as smoke free as of July 1, 1989.

MEMO TO: DEPARTMENT HEADS
SUBJECT: SMOKE FREE CITY HALL
DATE: MAY 25, 1989
If I recall correctly, it was discussed at a department head meeting in the
past that we should explore the possibility of making City Hall a smoke free
building. I have again had a similar request.
I intend to make a request to the Council at the next Council meeting. If you
have any comments, good or bad, please get them to me by Tuesday.

MEMO TO: KAREN FINSTUEN
SUBJECT: SMOKE FREE BUILDING
DATE: MAY 26, 1989
I have reviewed your memo dated May 25, 1989 and I feel it would be an excellent
idea to designate City Hall as a smoke free building. It may be an inconvenience
to persons visiting City Hall, but I feel it would be consistent with the trend
taking place in most public buildings and reflect changing public sentiment towards
non-smoker' s rights.
