Prior to this date, advisors were appointed to draft Post member requirements and bylaws. Mike Heinzerling was appointed as the Advisor along with Steve Snyder as Assistant Advisor. Mike and Steve are both active members of the Fire Department. The department felt the knowledge of two of our retired members would also be very valuable to the youth. Tom Jensen and David Pietsch both retired Chiefs, accepted our request as committee members. Many hours of time were spent in drafting the bylaws and requirements of the Post. Recruitment also required numerous hours of time in introducing this program to the youth of the community. The Post training meetings are held twice per month under the watchful eyes of the Advisors. In response to the demands of the Post, one additional committee member was added in January of 1989. Steve Bower, one of our newer active members volunteered for this position. The main objective of the Explorer Post Advisors and Committee Members is to introduce the youth of the community to the fire service. As a final note, my involvement as the Scouting. Coordinator of the Post deserves minimal credit in comparison to the commitment the people above have made and continue to give.
