Inc. , would like to use their club funds to purchase a dishwasher to be donated to the senior center kitchen. The dishwasher would be a great asset to the seniors during all the various fund raiser meals that they prepare, approximately once per month. At this time the seniors utilize a three-way deep basin sink which is a back straining process. The seniors plan to purchase a stainless steel commercial unit, in accordance to the original plans for the kitchen. The hook ups for a dishwasher are already in existence. The seniors plan to spend approximately $3,000.00. Is the City willing to accept this purchase/donation? (In keeping with unwritten expectations, the senior club F.A.S.C. Inc. also just turned over $1,000.00 towards the operation of the senior center. Furthermore, they will continue to contribute 70% of all intake from future fund raisers towards operational costs of the center.) MEMO TO: LARRY THOMPSON SUBJECT: DONATION OF A DISHWASHER DATE AUGUST 15, 1985 The Senior Club wants to donate a $3000.00 dishwasher to the Senior Center. As Fire Chief I would like to see the City Council continue to allow City employees to serve as volunteer fire fighters. Presently, the Fire Department has a shortage of men available during normal business hours. City employees provide a pool of workers that are normally in town and available during business hours. As far as other fire fighters attitude towards city employees receiving higher wages, I have not heard any negative comments at this time. The fire fighters realize that the council has no control over this matter. I am not concerned about this aspect at this time. Finally, I feel that the Supreme Court decision was inappropriate, and fully support the council's action in attempting to change the law.
