WATER BORAD
REGULAR
APRIL 28, 1980
1 . The meeting was called to order in City Hall at 7 : 30 P.M.
Present : President Shirley, members Juenemann and Mohlis
Also Present : General Services Superintendent , William Hince.
2. Motion by Shirley, second by Juenemann to accept the various bills
presented to the Board totaling $1 , 414 . 29 and order payment of same.
APIF, motion carried.
3. Motion by Mohlis, second by Shirley to approve the minutes of the
meetings on March 24, 1980 and February 25, 1980. APIF, motion carried.
4. Dwight Tange appeared before the Board on behalf of the Towns Edge
Apartments . Mr. Tange was seeking relief from a larger than normal
water bill that was brought about due to a leak in the customer ' s service.
The Board denied any compensation.
5. The Board reviewed a note signed by several residents on Heritage
Way complaining of rusty water.
6. Ken Hubek, representing Nalco Chemical Company, appeared before the
Board to present their service which is purported to aid in solving the
rusty water problem afflicting the City. Hubek stated that the Farm-
ington water is a bit acidic, and in combination with other elements
in the water, causes rusting of the pipes . He proposes to add an agent
called NALCO 918, which will neutralize the water causing less corrosion.
Cost of this service would be $640 for each pump/tank/injector, plus
an estimated $6, 000 per year for the agent . Due to other committments ,
President Shirley departed from the meeting during this presentation.
The Board is taking initiation of this service under advisement .
7. Motion by Mohlis, second by Juenemann to accept the lowest bid as
of noon April 29, 1980 for installation of the six (6) in-line filters
as described in the March Water Board Minutes. APIF, motion carried.
Board member Juenemann will contact the City Administrator for composition
of a letter of agreement for issuance to each resident noting the
conditions set forth by the Water Board in March 1980.
8. The Board noted that the City Engineer has not yet responded to
work authorized by the Water Board during the March meeting.
