WATER BOARD
SPECIAL
AUGUST 27, 1986
1. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley at 7:30 P.M. in
City Hall.
Present: Shirley, Bohm, Juenemann.
Absent: None.
Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski.
2. City Engineer Kaldunski advised the Board that the water tank interior
is in need of refurbishment. Preliminary estimates to scrape and recoat
surface with the presently used sealer is $16,000. Life expectancy would
be three to four years. An alternative process would include scraping,
sandblasting and recoating with coal-tar epoxy for a life expectancy of
ten to twelve years. Estimated cost is $32,000. Kaldunski noted that the
external surface did not need immediate attention. Painting costs are
roughly estimated at $16,000, plus $6,000 for the City logo. Lettering
costs are $50 per letter. The Board elected to defer painting the tank
exterior until next year. Motion by Shirley, second by Juenemann to
authorize the City Engineer to prepare specifications for refurbishing the
tank interior using coal-tar epoxy sealants. APIF, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
R.G. Juenemann
