HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-27-1986 222 MINUTES WATER BOARD SPECIAL AUGUST 27, 1986 1. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley at 7:30 P.M. in City Hall. Present: Shirley, Bohm, Juenemann. Absent: None. Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski. 2. City Engineer Kaldunski advised the Board that the water tank interior is in need of refurbishment. Preliminary estimates to scrape and recoat surface with the presently used sealer is $16,000. Life expectancy would be three to four years. An alternative process would include scraping, sandblasting and recoating with coal-tar epoxy for a life expectancy of ten to twelve years. Estimated cost is $32,000. Kaldunski noted that the external surface did not need immediate attention. Painting costs are roughly estimated at $16,000, plus $6,000 for the City logo. Lettering costs are $50 per letter. The Board elected to defer painting the tank exterior until next year. Motion by Shirley, second by Juenemann to authorize the City Engineer to prepare specifications for refurbishing the tank interior using coal-tar epoxy sealants. APIF, motion carried.
