HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-21-1989 251 MINUTES WATER BOARD REGULAR MARCH 21, 1989 1. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley at 7: 15 P.M. in City Hall. Present: Shirley, Sauber, Juenemann. Absent: None. Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski. 2. President Shirley mentioned that he had received a call from Pat McCarthy of Dakota County Estates, who indicated that he favored implementation of residential water meters in Farmington. The Board continued with a discussion on water meters, and in particular, with reference to a proposal from City Engineer Kaldunski dated February 21, 1989 recommending that the Water Board consider soliciting a study to more accurately estimate the benefits and costs of a residential meter installation program. Kaldunski estimated the cost of such a study to be around $2,000. The Board elected to decline this proposal, allowing that the water system has a number of expensive projects looming that will command all resources for some time in the future. 3. Kaldunski advised that the inspection of Well No. 1 was delayed because of the extreme weather experienced recently, but will begin again shortly with anticipation that the inspection results will be available in time for the next Water Board meeting. He also mentioned that the water mains will receive their spring flushing next month. 4. Engineer Kaldunski passed a message from Finance Director Henneke relating that the Audit results were received recently, and that the Finance Director should have a Water Funds report ready in the near future. 5. The Board reviewed the monthly bills presented and noted that a bill from Sauber Plumbing for $141.04 was incorrectly routed to the Water Board. MOTION by Juenemann, second by Shirley to approve payment of all bills presented, except the bill from Saubers in the amount of $141.04, for a total of $5,396.01. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 6. The Board reviewed a memo from Finance Director Henneke dated March 8, 1989 relating to Workman's Compensation coverage for elected and appointed officials. The Board chose not to participate in the Workman's Comp program. Respectfully submitted, Robert G. Juenemann Secretary
