HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-20-1990 261 MINUTES WATER BOARD REGULAR FEBRUARY 20, 1990 1. Marvin Wier was appointed by the City Council to replace Robert Juenemann as Board Member. Mr. Wier's term expires in January, 1993. 2. Members Present: Shirley, Wier. Members Absent: Sauber. Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski. 3. The Board reviewed the Revenue and Expenditures report. No action was taken on the report or budget until the full Board is present. 4. Engineer Kaldunski reviewed the renovation of Well No. 1 (behind City Hall) . Upon completion, the well should produce 1000 gpm against the present head pressure. Estimated cost of the project is between $60,000 and $65,000. The renovation includes a new pump and shaft, new controls, metering device, remodeling of the interior and exterior, including the roof. MOTION by Shirly, second by Wier to authorize the City Engineer to submit plans to the Minnesota Department of Health and upon their approval, to advertise for bids to complete the project. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 5. City Project 89-1, the Storm Sewer Outfall Along the West Side of the Railroad Tracks was discussed. The estimated cost of the Water Board's share of the project is $4,000, which is to be used to provide the stub out of the existing 6" water main on Elm Street and to install 2 new hydrants (one on the north side and one on the south side) . MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to advertise for bids for the project. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 6. The Board next discussed Project 89-3 - 1st and Walnut Street Improvements. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to reaffirm the Water Board's policy of replacing the galvanized water service on the existing water main and to have alternate bids to replace the existing 4 inch water main on 1st Street from Spruce to Oak Street and on Walnut between 2nd and 4th Streets with a 6 inch main. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 7. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to approve the bills presented in the amount of $2,251.07 and order payment of the same. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
