MINUTES
WATER BOARD
REGULAR
MARCH 20, 1990
1. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Shirley at 7:00 P.M.
Members Present: Shirley, Sauber, Wier.
Members Absent: None.
III 2. A proposed budget for the Water Board was presented. Several questions about
both income and expenditures were raised. It was felt that interest income could
be raised to $10,000. There was a question about the figure assessed to the
Water Board for insurance. It was felt that this figure was too high. Budget
action was delayed until a balanced budget could be arrived at.
3. It is planned that flushing of hydrants will take place April 23, 24, 25 and 26.
If weather is not suitable, this will be delayed.
4. There was a discussion of proposals to add meters to the City water system.
Ways and means of getting the work done and funding were touched upon. It was
decided that further study is needed before taking action on this matter.
5. MOTION by Shirley, second by Sauber to raise water rates to $22 per quarter for
unmetered service and 65c per 1000 gallons for metered effective with the third
quarter billing for 1990. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
6. The Board discussed the possible hiring of one person to take care of Water
Board maintenance work and take care of work done in flushing hydrants, overseeing
the work done on water mains, hydrants, etc. It was felt that further study was
needed on this matter and no action was taken.
7. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to pay the bills as submitted with the exception
of the payment to Curtis Industries, which will be deferred until an explanation is
received as to what the bill covers. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
8. The Board discussed the sprinkling ban for the summer of 1990. No action was
taken at this time.
9. There being no further items for discussion, the Board adjourned.
