WATER BOARD
REGULAR
AUGUST 21, 1990
1. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley.
Members Present: Shirley, Wier.
Members Absent: Sauber.
Also Present: Finance Director Henneke.
2. Mr. Henneke reported on a number of delinquent utility bills. Some residents
had made requests for hardship consideration, however 12 had made no contact.
Water shut off policy dictates that the 12 who made no contact should have their
water turned off. The Board feels it is necessary to receive more information
other than that contained in letters from customers in order to make a reasonable
decision on hardship cases. The following action was taken on the letters received:
#1 - Appeal denied.
#2 - If some payment is made and a schedule of payments is set and adhered to, it
was agreed to approve the hardship case.
#3 - Not enough information was presented to make a decision.
#4 - The customer wanted to make payments of $25 per month. This amount would not
cover even current charges, therefore the $25/month was denied. It was agreed
that a possible $50 up front payment with further documentation to follow
would be agreeable.
#5 - The bill had been paid, however the customer wished to have a monthly billing.
The monthly billing was denied, but the Finance Director agreed to accept
monthly payments on the 3 month billing.
#6 - The customer wanted a 12 month billing and asked for hardship consideration. It
was decided that payments for the current amounts must be scheduled since this
account was far in arrears.
MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to approve the above actions. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
3. A discussion of a $25.00 fee to shut off and turn on water was discussed. No
action was taken at this time.
4. The Public Works Director was requested to notify the Board of emergency repair
bills if these are to be paid by the Board.
5. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to pay the bills as presented. APIF, MOTION
CARRIED.
6. The meeting was adjourned.
