HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-05-1991 277 MINUTES WATER BOARD REGULAR JUNE 5, 1991 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Shirley. Members Present: Shirley, Wier. Members Absent: Sauber (illness) . Also Present: City Engineer/Public Works Director Kaldunski, City Administrator Thompson. III 2. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve the minutes of April 22, 1991. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 3. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve payment of 95% of Request for Payment No. 1 for improvements to the discharge line of Well No. 1 in the amount of $27,542.54. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 4. A request by the owner of the property located at 1041 5th Street to install a new curb box for the property at a different location was considered. The owner requested that he not be charged for this change. The request was denied. 5. A discussion of water meters was held. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to have staff request an evaluation by Bonestroo of the present options, especially the means of reading meters, and to present their suggestions to the Board. Also included in the motion was to discuss meters and their adaptation for computer and other reading methods. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 6. It was noted that Bill Weierke had passed the written examination for a Class D Water Supply Operator. 7. A request for a water meter by James Murphy was considered. It was decided to install a meter in Mr. Murphy's home at no present cost and to have Mr. Murphy provide data concerning consumption so that information can be used to determine usage by his type of family. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to approve the request III for meter installation at the James Murphy residence. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 8. The looping of water mains at the proposed Middle School was discussed. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley that fees for the looping be paid upon completion of the plat. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 9. The alarm system on the main water tank was discussed. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to get estimates on an alarm to show if water pumps are keeping the tank filled. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 10. The Board received a report on a CD showing $897.96 in interest to date on an amount of $26,402. 10. Maturity of the certificate of deposit is May 21, 1991. 11. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to approve bills in the amount of $7,036.80. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 12. There being no further business, the Water Board adjourned.
