MINUTES
WATER BOARD
REGULAR
JUNE 24, 1991
1. The meeting was called to order.
Members Present: Shirley, Sauber, Wier.
Members Absent: None.
Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski.
2. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve the minutes of June 5, 1991.
APIF, MOTION CARRIED. It was noted that the letter to Jim Murphy should be changed
to agree with the motion in the minutes.
3. MOTION by Sauber, second by Wier to approve payment of the balance due on
Well No. 1. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
4. A discussion of water meters and a means of reading them was held. Cost factors
from Badger Meters were given, emphasizing that these are average costs over several
years and may not fit Farmington.
5. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to adopt the idea of water meters with further
study needed concerning details of costs, installation and policy development.
VOTING FOR: Wier, Shirley. VOTING AGAINST: None. ABSTAIN: Sauber. MOTION
CARRIED.
6. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to change the July meeting date to July 29th
at 7:00 P.M. . APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
7. The Board discussed a proposed trip to Milwaukee to get further information
about meters and their management. It was expected that Badger Meters would pick
up the expenses. Mr. Sauber agreed to represent the Board if the trip is taken.
Other City personnel were invited to attend to get further information. City
Engineer Kaldunski is to coordinate planning the trip.
8. Mr. Kaldunski explained electrical costs for pumping to the Board. He indicated
that the City is trying to negotiate electrical rates to equalize NSP and Dakota
Electric charges.
9. City water usage was discussed. It is apparent that lawn watering is being
done. Some tickets and/or warnings have been issued to violators of the sprinkling
ban.
10. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to approve payment of bills in the amount
of $2,531.77. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
11. No budget information was available.
12. The meeting was adjourned.
