HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-24-1992 289 MINUTES WATER BOARD REGULAR APRIL 24, 1992 1. The meeting was called to order. Members Present: Shirley, Wier. Members Absent: Sauber. Also Present: Engineer Kaldunski, Finance Director Henneke. 2. No minutes were available from the March meeting. 3. Mark Beltz was present from the School District to discuss the irrigation situation at the senior high school. After some discussion, MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier that a daily log be kept as to when any irrigation takes place and the amount used on a daily basis. This will be on a trial basis for one year. The School is to apply for a permit. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 4. The annual Minnesota Department of Health review was presented and discussed. The need for a reservoir and other issues regarding the reservoir will be discussed at the May meeting. 5. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley that the City Council be requested to enact an ordinance requiring that meters be installed in all new housing and commercial construction in Farmington. All costs on new construction are to be paid by the owner. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 6. The Comprehensive Plan for the City water program was discussed along with the possible need to update the plan. 7. The proposal for Joint Powers Agreement between various cities for the purpose of testing for lead and copper in the water was discussed. A MOTION was made and seconded that a recommendation be made to the City Council to approve the agreement. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 8. The proposed legislation for a connection fee of $5.00 was discussed. An update on this law is needed at the May meeting. 9. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to purchase a back flow preventer from Minnesota Pipe and Equipment Company for $338.38. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 10. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to replace damaged meter on Well #3. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 11. MOTION by Shirley second by Wier to move the May meeting to Tuesday, May 26th due to the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 25th. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 12. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve bills in the amount of $20,356.55. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 13. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to direct the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for water meters and advertise for bids. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 14. MOTION was made to adjourn.
