MINUTES
COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
JUNE 13, 1974
The Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7 : 30 P.M.
Present : Daily, Akin, Graphenteen, McElmury
Absent: Kuchera
This special meeting was called at the request of the County
Assessor and at which the City Council would sit as an annual
Board of Tax Review.
Mr . Orland Solberg appeared on behalf of the Dakota County Assessor.
The Mayor declared the meeting open and the council prepared to hear
complaints and comments .
Mrs . Pat Murphy explained her concern about her commercial property
taxes having been increased approximately 350 . Mr. Solberg explained
that the increase in mill rate in the school district accounted for
approximately 19% and that also recent state legislation shifted
some emphasis from homestead to commercial .
Mr. and Mrs . Dan Miller expressed their concern about a recently
announced policy of Dakota County in which a four unit multiple
dwelling or less would not be considered rental property. Mr.
Solberg arranged a meeting with the Millers in the County Assessors
office at Hastings at which time this matter would be discussed.
Mr. Gunner Mortenson expressed his dissatisfaction with a partial
appraisal of assessed valuation which had been placed on his apart-
ments which were under construction. Again Mr. Solberg arranged
a meeting with Mr. Mortenson at the County Assessors office in
Hastings to review the matter.
Motion made and carried to adjourn at 8 : 25 P.M.
