HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.21.75 Special Council Minutes APPROVED �oZ� MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL MAY 21, 1975 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by the Mayor Present: Mayor Daily, Councilmen Johnson, Kuchera, McElmury Absent: Councilman Akin Also Present: Administrator Ford, Ron Langness of Springsted The purpose of the meeting was to open bids which had been received in the amount of $670,000 which would finance the construction of a new Multi-purpose Arena. Ron Langness informed the council that he had three bids which he was then instructed to open and read to the council which he did. Tabulation of bids as follows: Bancnorthwest 6.3674180 The First National Bank of St. Paul 6.460460 Piper, Jaffray $ Hopwood, Inc. 6.4847% Councilman Johnson then inquired of Mr. Langness whether he had received the results of the reviewing attorneys. Mr. Langness indicated that he had. Councilman Johnson then asked whether or not the Bond review Attorneys had found that the bidding procedures throughout, in this instance, had met the requirements of the State Competitive bidding Law. Ron Langness answered in the affirmative. He was then asked whether, for bond review purposes the determination had been made as to the propriety of the plans and specifications on which the bids had been received for the construction of the arena and again he aswered in the affirmative. Councilman Johnson then, on behalf of the council, asked if Mr. Langness could furnish to the council a copy of the reviewing attorneys opinion and again he was informed that that would be done. The Mayor then informed the council that he would entertain a motions to adopt necessary resolutions. Motion by Kuchera, second by McElmury to adopt . resolution #R56-75 Award-l—ng-7ffe sale of bonds upon recommendation of the Bond Consultants to Bancnorthwest in the total amount of $409,425.00 at a net interest yield of 6.3674%. APIF, motion carried. Motion by Kuchera, second by McElmury to adopt resolution #R57-75 approving the Form in preparation of bonds and coupons. APIF, motion carried. Motion by johnson, second by Kuchera that the Administrator be instructed to write and to send a letter on behalf of the council to State Representatives James White and Robert Jensen and State Senator George Conzemius thanking them for their efforts involving certain matters of critical interest to Farmington during the last legislative session. APIF, motion carried. Motion by Kuchera, second by McElmury authorizing the General Services Super- intend uper- in ne dent to purchase grass trimming equipment in the amount of $260.00. Such purchase to come from the Capital Outlay item in the PARAC budget under chain link fencing. APIF, motion carried. Motion made and carried to adjourn at 8:00 P.M.
