COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
MAY 24, 1978
1. The Acting Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Present: Acting Mayor Kuchera, Councilman Johnson and Whittier
Excused: Mayor Akin and Councilman McElmury
Also Present: Administrator Ford
2. The Acting Mayor read the published notice of this meeting, the purpose of
which was the annual meeting of the City Council sitting as the Board of Tax
Review. There were representatives from the Dakota County Assessors office in
attendance. Acting Mayor Kuchera also announced that Mayor Akin would be late
due to illness in the family.
3. Mayor Akin arrived at 7:45 P.M. Acting Mayor Kuchera retained the Chair.
4. There was a general discussion on taxes, assessments, appraisal methods,
formulas, and equalization procedures. A few citizens in the audience addressed
questions to representatives from the county and apparently received satisfactory
answers. No specific requests were made to the council or to the County for
adjustment in taxes for specific parcels or any request for an examination of
appraised values. One property asked to see the values applied to his neighbors
and he was so shown.
5. Motion made and carried to adjourn at 8:30 P.M.
