COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
SEPTEMBER, 11, 1978
1. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:00 P.M.
Present: Mayor Akin, councilmen Johnson, Kuchera
Absent: McElmury, Whittier
Also Present: Administrator Ford
2. The Mayor indicated for the record that mailed notices had been sent 48 hours
prior to the meeting.
3. Almost the entire meeting was devoted to budget matters, the purpose for
which the meeting was originally set. Items discussed included, but were not
limited to: A list of city equipment presently equipped with two-way radios,
emergency generator for General Services, risk of personal injury to spectators
standing at the railing at the arena, snow disposal area, limitation on number
of containers for garbage collection customers, the tax levy limit study proposed,
income from bike licenses. The Administrator was asked to check with the City
Attorney regarding the law in the setting of salaries for public officials.
4. The council agreed to authorize and direct the General Services Department
to post no parking signs on the North side of Locust Street, between 5th and 6th
adjacent to the school.
5. It was decided that the Administrator should schedule department heads for
meetings with the council at the regular meeting of September 18, 1978, beginning
at 7:30 P.M.
6. Motion made and seconded to adjourn at 9:30 P.M.
