Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Members Present: Rotty, Oswald, Larson, Barker -arrived at 6:00 p.m.
Members Absent: Fitzloff
Also Present: Tony Wippler - Assistant City Planner, Lee Smick - City Planner

Discuss 2030 Vision statement
The Commissioners reviewed the proposed vision statement. There was
discussion regarding modifying the reference to average densities or removing the
bullet point completely. There was also discussion regarding not narrowing the
focus of economic development to only one area ofthe City. Chair Rotty
suggested that in the section regarding the aesthetics of Highway 3 there be a
reference to increasing safety also. Overall the Commissioners felt that the vision
statement accurately reflected the input received from the visioning sessions.

Discuss 2030 Comprehensive Plan
The Planning Commission Members discussed the draft 2030 Comprehensive
Plan. There was discussion regarding the MUSA Staging Plan. There was
mention of the general preference for contiguous development whenever possible,
but the Commissioners would prefer to remain flexible on that point.
4. Discuss 2030 Land Use Staging Map
The Commissioners and the Planning Staff agreed that the Staging Map would not be
included in the Comprehensive Plan because it would not match the current figures that
are allowed by the Met Council.
