Call to Order
Chair Rotty called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Members Present: Rotty, Stokes, Larson
Members Absent: Bonar, Barker
Also Present: Tony Wippler - Assistant City Planner, Lee Smick - City Planner

Discussion of 2030 Comprehensive Plan - 2008 Update Work Plan
Staffhas created action plans to support the strategies identified in the
Comprehensive Plan Update. Other City staffwill also need to review the
information. Commissioner Stokes asked how the dates in the plan were
identified. Staff stated that the Metropolitan Council won't be approving the plan
until December of2008. Staffwill also be updating the population numbers every
two years and making any adjustments that are necessary. One of the action steps
that will address this directs reconvening the MUSA Review Committee when
Met Council forecasts are available to discuss growth opportunities. Chair Rotty
stated that this is a good starting document but will inevitably be added to in the
future because it is a working document. The Commissioners discussed the
creation of bigger lot sizes around wetlands.
Upcoming Items
Cell towers located in the City Parks has been approved by the P ARAC and the
Planning Commission. Staffwill be bringing a draft of the policy to the August
Planning Commission meeting.
A draft of the downtown driveway setbacks code revision will be brought to the
Planning Commission as well.
