The 2024 election year will include three elections: the Presidential Nomination Primary on March 5, 2024, the State Primary on August 13, 2024, and the General Election on November 5, 2024. In preparation for these elections, the decision was made by Dakota County to replace our current electronic pollbooks. The County is bearing 50% of the total cost of replacement, while municipalities, collectively, are being assessed 35% of the cost, and school districts the remaining 15%. The 35% that cities are sharing is further broken down to assess each city based on the percentage of Dakota County voters who reside in their city. As of January 9, 2023, there are 14,145 registered voters in Farmington which equates to 5% of registered voters in Dakota County. The shared cost to the City of Farmington is not finalized but we believe it will be approximately $6,020.80. Attached are the cost projections and a resolution for adoption. New electronic pollbooks will be delivered sometime in June so we may begin the process of setting them up for testing and use in 2024.
