HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.14.88 EDC Minutes MINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION REGULAR JULY 14, 1988 1. Chairperson Riste called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Members Present: Riste, Sprute Members Absent: Meyer, Mayer. Also Present: Robert Williamson, Director 2. There being no quorum, no official business could be conducted. 3. Director's Report: The Director reported on the following projects: A. HRA Redevelopment Projects 1. Hardee's is now open. A Twin City Testing report recommending closure of the groundwater sampling wells was forwarded to the PCA for their approval. 2. Farmington City Planner Charles Tooker is under contract with the HRA to update and revise the HRA Downtown Redevelopment Plan. When this project is completed this fall, it will serve as the guide for a small grant and loan program to assist building improvement projects in the downtown area. 3. The construction of a 35-40 unit market-rate senior housing project on the Oak Senior property is being pursued by the HRA, W.H. Cates Construction, Inc. , and the Dakota County HRA. The successful negotiation of a Developer's agreement within the next two months is the immediate goal. 4. Cost data are being gathered to support the possible condemnation proceedings against seven parcels of CMC Properties land. 5. The purchase of property in the Elm Park development area is proceeding in an orderly fashion. B. Farmington Resource Recover System g y Y 1. The EDC funded, joint venture with Dakota County Extension, the Backyard Composting Demonstration Project has resulted in the placement of demonstrator models at the rear of the County Extension building next to the fairgrounds. 2. In addition to and conjunction with the on-going planning of the Recovery System, the Director was involved with the following: a. Co-organization of the hazardous drop-off days with Dakota County, Lakeville and APTUS to be held on the 15th and 16th of July. b. Organization and execution of a tour of the Fillmore County Resource Recovery Center. c. Presentations at the Rural Solid Waste Implementation Commitee, the Empire Township Planning Board, and the Empire Township Board. d. Regular participation in four Dakota County Solid Waste Committees and Subcommittees. 4. Chairperson Riste adjourned the meeting at 8:10 P.M. Subm' ted by, Q Robert Williamson Director Approved
