ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
JULY 12, 1989
REGULAR
1. Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairperson Riste.
Members present: Riste, Mayer, Meyer, Sprute, Dr. Ruberto.
Members absent: None
Also Present:Director Henricks
2. MOTION by Sprute, second by Meyer to approve minutes for May 11, 1989
meeting, APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
3. Project update:
Farmington Green: Director reviewed memo with board explaining that
Mr. Van Sickle has indicated that inquiries have been slow.
Senior Housing: Explained to the EDC Board was reasons not for locating
this project on the NW corner of Spruce and 3rd Street. The height of
the building would require the City to purchase new fire protection
equipment capable of reaching to the top of the building. Also, the
developers of Farmington Green and Senior Housing projects questioned their
desire to be involved in the combination of residential housing with
commercial activities. There also would be variance requests for the combined
project.
Industrial Park: The HRA is looking at developing the Industrial Park.
Mr. Black has expressed the need to start construction of his building by
September 1, 1989. This will call for the HRA to establish a Tax
increment financing plan for his project.
4. Directors evaluation was tabled until the August 3, 1989 meeting.
5. Chairperson Riste presented a "Revolving Loan Fund Guidelines" form for
the EDC to review. The board requested the Director to proceed with
setting a date for the Star City program and the Blandin Foundation
presentation.
6. The Board discussed purchasing 500 Farmington stickers as soon as possible.
MOTION by Sprute, second by Meyer to purchase 500 Farmington Bumper
stickers, APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
7. MOTION by Meyet, second by Mayer to approve bills including the expense
sheet for the Director's seminar for Heartland Basic Economic Development
Course in Kansas City, MO, APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
8. MOTION by Meyer, second by Mayer to adjourn meeting at 9:30 P.M. , APIF,
MOTION CARRIED.
