ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
SPECIAL
MAY 20, 1992 AT 7 P.M.
1. Meeting called to order at 7 P.M. by Chairperson Galler
Members Present: Galler, Thelen, Sifferath
Members Absent: Harms, Pollock
Also Present: Director Henricks, Larry Thompson, G.E. Stelzel, George Johnson, Steve Helkum
Dirk Childs, Betty Sindt, Leo Ruberto
2. The purpose of this meeting was to invite the townships to discuss whether they
would have any interest in participating in the Community Development activities under the
new EDC structure. Ruberto presented a brief overview of the past, present and future
of the EDC, noting that the concept of a "community" needs to extend beyond geographical
boundaries of a city. During discussion, situations were noted where this group's
members could have assisted each other. As an example, Mr. Stelzel and the group reviewed
the lack of volunteers necessary to operate the Dakota City as a tourist attraction
or a historical museum. A special meeting was set for June 3, 1992 at the Empire
Town Hall for further discussion on this subject.
3. MOTION by Thelen, second by Sifferath to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 P.M. APIF,
MOTION CARRIED.
