Call to Order: Chair Pennie Page called meeting to order at 9:32 a.m. Members Present: Blanche Reichert, Mary Garlets, Pennie Page, Pat Hennen, Marge Koski, and Judy Janke Members absent: Larry Smith Others Present: Parks and Recreation Director Kellee Omlid, Recreation Supervisor Missie Kohlbeck 2. Approve Agenda Motion made by Hennen seconded by Garlets to approve October 10, 2022 agenda. All persons in favor (APIF). Motion carried. 3. Approve Minutes Motion made by Koski to approve September 12, 2022 meeting minutes and seconded by Reichert, APIF. Motion carried. 4. Presentations 5. Business Items 6. Discussion Items A. Review of Rambling River Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Overall it went excellent. Rambling River Center Advisory Board (RRCAB) members received good feedback from participants including well organized and they enjoyed the photo booth. RRCAB members were pleasantly surprised at the participation in the pumpkin contest. The only item to note for the next big event is to be stricter on dismissing tables for food as we don’t have a lot of room. B. Breakfast and Silent Auction Fundraiser RRCAB members will follow up with businesses for silent auction donations. Volunteer schedules will be posted after this meeting. MDC cards will be sold during the breakfast. C. Ideas to Replace Fun Fridays Several ideas were discussed including Friday flicks, bags tourney, trivia, name that tune, and casino. A committee of Garlets, Koski, and Reichert will meet to brainstorm other programming ideas. D. Barriers to Getting to the Rambling River Center Action items were discussed as follows: Loss of Social Contacts: RRCAB members call members whose membership is expired still living in town and invite them back. Little Knowledge of RRC Opportunities: RRCAB members and staff attend community events letting people know of the opportunities and make available the welcome packets. Social Fears – Continue discussing. Fear of Losing “youthful and independent” identity: Review ageism and how to prevent it and partner with youth organizations. Loss of Sense of Community: Making Dementia Friends training available. Lack of Transportation and Finances: Awareness of Financial Support Programs and Volunteer Bucks. Continue to discuss and practice action items. E. 2023 Work Plan Ideas RRCAB members discussed continuing with the following work plan goals for 2023: raising $10,000, recommending RRC fees and charges, and getting together with the parks and recreation commission. They discussed adding marketing and the RRC name, way finding signs, programming for the different generations, and partnerships. They would also like to carry over the goal for facility master planning. F. Review 2022 Work Plan Progress Page reviewed the work plan. Five out of nine goals are completed and one is tabled to next year. Work continues on the rest of the goals. 7. Staff Report Informational Updates • The Rambling River Center will have a Peanuts gang themed display at the Halloween Walk on Friday, October 28. • A fundraising/donation report was provided. • Coffee Café will run from 9-10 a.m. December 9, 2022 – March 10, 2023. • There will be a table at the Fire Department Open House on Wednesday, October 12. Page will set up with staff and Garlets and Koski will work. 8. Advisory Roundtable Hennen – If needed, we could contact Bethels Rock Church and ask for some youth to help with the breakfast. Garlets – Free fitness class demonstrations the third Thursday of each month. Koski – Nothing Janke – Nothing Page – Nothing Reichert - Nothing 9. Adjourn Motion by Reichert and seconded by Hennen to adjourn the meeting, APIF. Motion carried.
