Call to Order: Chair Pennie Page called meeting to order at 9:33 a.m. Members Present: Blanche Reichert, Mary Garlets, Pennie Page, Pat Hennen, Larry Smith, and Marge Koski Members absent: Others Present: Parks and Recreation Director Kellee Omlid, Recreation Supervisor Missie Kohlbeck 2. Approve Agenda Motion made by Reichert seconded by Smith to approve August 8, 2022 agenda. All persons in favor (APIF). Motion carried. 3. Approve Minutes Motion made by Hennen to approve July 11, 2022 meeting minutes and seconded by Garlets, APIF. Motion carried. 4. Presentations None 5. Business Items A. Elect Vice-Chair Garlets indicated she would be interested in being the vice-chair with some assistance. No other interest, no other nominations. Motion by Hennen to approve Garlets as vice-chair, seconded by Smith. APIF. Motion carried. 6. Discussion Items A. Review Parks and Facilities Tour with Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council Smith commented there is a lot of opportunity at Evergreen Knoll Park. Garlets had never been to Evergreen Knoll and she commented the number of parks in the system is impressive. Director Omlid mentioned the bath house at Evergreen Knoll Park is scheduled for demolition. She also felt it was very beneficial for all three groups to get together. B. Rambling River Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Final details were completed. Tickets will go on sale August 15. Page will send volunteer lists to Stacey Popp for printing and placement at front desk. C. Strategic Plan to Increase Membership The board reviewed a welcome packet and agreed on all the items included. Kohlbeck will update the letter and put on city letter head and have a final sample ready for next meeting. D. Review 2022 Work Plan Progress Director Omlid provided an update on the work plan progress. 7. Staff Report Informational Updates • The 2023 preliminary budget includes two new police officers that would start July 2023 and a community development code enforcement position. The current proposed levy increase is 5.78%. • The contract with 292 Design Group for facility master planning is on the city council agenda for August 15, 2022. • Pizza Man is working on a price for the breakfast fundraiser on October 29, 2022. Donations for coffee, juice, and syrup have been requested from Kwik Trip. • The parks and recreation bus failed its annual inspection so can no longer be driven. 8. Adjourn Motion by Koski and seconded by Reichert to adjourn the meeting, APIF. Motion carried.
