SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 RAMBLING RIVER CENTER
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
1. Call to Order: Chair Joan Moes called meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
Members Present: Joan Moes, Blanch Reichert, Marjorie Koski, Pennie Page, Pat Hennen, Ken
Schumann, and Gina Smith
Members absent:
Others Present: Parks and Recreation Director Kellee Omlid, Recreation Supervisor Missie
Kohlbeck
2. Approve Agenda
Motion made by Koski to approve the meeting agenda, seconded by Schumann, APIF. Motion carried.
3. Approve Minutes
Motion made by Page to approve July 12, 2021 meeting minutes and seconded by Reichert, APIF.
Motion carried.
4. Presentations
None
5. Business Items
A. Halloween Walk Participation
Schumann will participate with member Lois Lotz. Staff will continue to recruit member volunteers.
Motion by Schumann and seconded by Smith for the Rambling River Center to participate in the 2021
Halloween Walk on Friday, Oct. 29 at Dodge Middle School. APIF. Motion carried.
6. Discussion Items
A. Review Parks and Facilities Tour with Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council
Page, Smith, and Schumann all commented it was a nice and informative tour. Smith asked about the
possibility for dog park to be created. Discussion regarding the Rambling River Center having input on
park design creating space for senior with mobility issues and to plan a senior day picnic in the park to
expose seniors to the park system.
B. Rambling River Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration
Reviewed the logo and tag line. Page asked for the years to be added to logo. Discussion re: one day
event and boxed lunch. Event still on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022. We will continue with time capsule, tree,
bench, photo booth, and time line history. Reichert and Koski presented some price information for
meals. Smith mentioned the Sweet Kneads expansion would include box lunches. Board will discuss
again in October to decided on detail for meal including speaker/music.
C. Update on Fundraising Events
Kiss the Pig will be on Saturday, September 18. Metro Dining Club cards are still on their way. Shred
Right 4 Good has changed their fees so while we will continue through the rest of this year, 2022 will be
dependent upon usage. An up-to-date fundraising amount will be included next month.
D. Review of 2021 Work Plan Progress
Progress has been made on Goal #1 Objective 2 and Goal #3 Objectives 2 and 3.
7. Staff Report
Informational Updates
• September is National Senior Center month. We are holding free classes in September and our
membership social will be held on Friday, September 24 with speaker Lin Bruce.
• Director Omlid gave a 2022 budget update.

Motion by Koski and seconded by Smith to adjourn the meeting, APIF. Motion carried. The meeting
was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
