COUNCIL MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 11, 1994
1. Mayor Kuchera called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M..
Members Present: Kuchera, Ristow, Orr, Galler.
Members Absent: Rotty. ~
Also Present: Administrator Thompson, Parks and Recreation Director
Bell, ISD #192 Boardmembers Wacker, Sifferath, Switzer,
Brownawelli Bernie Bloom, Mark Beltz, Craig Schlawin,
Brian Harmelink.
2. The School District's Board Chairperson gave a presentation on the
District's Facilities Plan. (It was noted a height variance would
be required for the High School expansion.)
3. The Council and Board discussed the following topics:
a. TIF
b. housing activity
c. road projects.
4. Administrator Thompson summarized the status of Park and Recreation
facilities and programs noting cooperation with the School District
has been excellent. A lengthy discussion followed regarding joint
park and recreation planning and coordination. It was the consensus
that a joint statement of philosophy regarding programming should be
drafted by Park and Recreation Director Bell and Community Education
Director Belli and also to assemble some ideas on City/School recreation
philosophies. Additional community groups such as FASA, the Ministerial
Association, Youth Hockey and the townships should be contacted for
input in developing the statement of philosophy.
5. MOTION by Galler, second by Ristow to adjourn at 6:30 P.M.. APIF,
MOTION CARRIED.
