MINUTES
COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
DECEMBER 14, 1994
1. Mayor Kuchera called the meeting to order at 2:00 P.M..
Members Present: Kuchera, Orr, Rotty.
Members Absent: Ristow, Galler. (Galler arrived at 2:45 P.M..)
Also Present: Administrator Thompson, Administrative Assistant Finstuen,
Chamber of Commerce Communications Director Schreier,
Businessman Carrol "Tuffy" Westenberg.
2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss media relations and
communications. A lengthy discussion followed regarding the perceived
negative coverage given the City and how the City could better communicate
with the "Farmington Independent". Several examples were given regarding
articles which were perceived as biased. It was suggested that if
the Independent was going to continue printing all letters to the editor,
there should be editorial space available next to the letter to counter
the statement. It was also suggested that the City purchase a message
page. It was agreed that the City and newspaper should improve their
relationship.
3. MOTION by Galler, second by Rotty to adjourn at 4:30 P.M..
