MINUTES
COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
JANUARY 18, 1992
1. Mayor Kuchera called the meeting to order at 8:00 A.M.
Members Present: Kuchera, Mayer, Orr, Galler.
Members Absent: None.
Also Present: Administrator Thompson.
2. The purpose of the meeting was to interview applicants for the vacant Council seat
and appoint an applicant.
3. The Council next discussed the interview process noting that it was an open meeting,
that questions should be rotated, and the interviews could last past the 15 minutes
allotted.
4. The following candidates were interviewed:
A. Gale M. Sprute
B. James Harms, DDS
C. Dennis Gramentz
D. Michael Pellicci
E. Donald Gamer
F. Steven Strachan
G. Dirk Rotty.
5. The Council next considered a process for selecting the member. Councilmember
Orr suggested narrowing the candidates down to 4 by ranking the candidates (Top Ranking
= 1, Bottom Ranking = 7). The Council ranked the candidates. The following was
the tabulation:

6. There was an apparent tie for fourth, which left five candidates for Council:

Steve Strachan was dropped from the candidates.
3rd Ballot:

7. Discussion followed regarding the candidates. MOTION by Orr, second by Galler
to nominate Dirk Rotty. VOTING FOR: Orr, Kuchera, Galler. AGAINST: Mayer. MOTION
CARRIED .

8. The Council directed staff to pursue the purchase of Chair Style #6004 and to
bring color samples.
9. It was also the consensus that staff continue to pursue Rice County Landfill.
10. MOTION by Galler, second by Orr to adjourn at 11:40 A.M.
