MINUTES
COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
FEBRUARY 21, 1992
1. Mayor Kuchera called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Members Present: Kuchera, Mayer, Orr, Rotty, Galler.
Members Absent: None.
Also Present: Administrator Thompson, Paul Asher, Wayne Henneke, Jerry Henricks,
Tom Ka1dunski, Charles Tooker, Don Bargin.
2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Council's vision of the future.
Mr. Bargin stated he hoped to accomplish the following:
a. identify key characteristics of Farmington in the year 2023i;
b. review and evaluate the vision and goals set in 1991;
c. designate goals to work on in 1992 and 1993.
3. The Council and staff broke into 3 groups. The following key characteristics
of Farmington in 2023 were identified:
Group 1
Full Range of Housing
Downtown Focal Point
Retail Growth @ #31 and #50
Diverse Economic Base
Pleasing Environment
Group 2
Diverse Economic Base
Separate Identities
Pleasing Environment
All Forms of Education
Safe Environment
Group 3
Preserve Historic Core
Centralized Commercial
Diverse Housing
Enhance Environ. Resources
Population of 20,000
4. The Council reviewed the 12 draft goals and how they fit into the Council's values.
It was agreed that the Council would identify which goals should be priorities.
5. The Council adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
