HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.24.85 Special Council Minutes 133 MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL OCTOBER 24, 1985 1. Mayor Akin reconvened the special session continued from October 23, 1985. Present: Akin, Kelly, Mayer, Orr, Sprute. Absent: None. Also Present: Administrator Thompson 2. The purpose of the continued meeting was to screen applicants for the City Engineer position. 3. Discussion followed regarding the work relationship between the City Engineer and Public Works Foreman. It was indicated that while the Foreman was in direct charge of the street crew and sanitation crew, the Engineer was in charge of the overall operations of General Services. It was also stated that the Engineer would be required to work out on the street with the crew as the situation required. 4. The City Council next reviewed each of the finalists. It was agreed to rate the candidates on an individual basis and to base the final two candidates on the compiled scores. Based on the ratings, Thomas Kaldunski and Bruce Radue were selected as the finalists. 5. The Council rated the final two candidates on the same basis and Thomas Kaldunski was selected as the first choice. 6. Motion by Mayer, second by Sprute to establish the City Engineer's position. Voting for: Kelly, Mayer, Orr, Sprute. Voting against: Akin. Motion carried. 7. Motion by Sprute, second by Kelly to offer the position of City Engineer to Thomas Kaldunski under the following terms and conditions: a. Starting salary - $32,000 annual. b. Fringe benefit - as per personnel policy. c. Locate within 15 minutes of Farmington within six months. d. City will consider relocation costs of up to $750. e. 12 month probation with a 6 month review. f. Offer stands until November 4, 1985. g. Starting date as soon as possible. Voting for: Kelly, Mayer, Orr, Sprute. Voting against: Akin. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Approved /I/'i/~~
