COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
JANUARY 30, 1986
1. Mayor Akin called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Members Present: Akin, Mayer, Orr, Sprute.
Members Absent: Kelly.
Also Present: Administrator Thompson.
2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential budget deficits.
3. Administrator Thompson explained that due to potential cutbacks in Local
Government Aid, Homestead Credits and Revenue Sharing, and increased insurance
premiums, the City may face a $57,000 deficit in its 1986 Operating Budget.
Concern was expressed regarding the reduction in State aids after levies had
been set. The Council discussed various potential cuts. It was the consensus
of the Council that it would place a priority on preserving present levels of
personnel and services. It was also the consensus that the contingency and
surplus remain intact.
4. The Council directed the Administrator to meet with various department
heads and present a list of contingent cuts.
5. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
