HomeMy WebLinkAbout02.22.82 Special Council Minutes / 39 MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING SPEC IAL FEBRUARY 22, 1982 1. The Acting Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Present: Councilmembers Cook, Kelly, Kuchera, Orr Absent: Mayor Stegmaier Also Present: Administrator Ford, Attorney Gorgos, Fire Chief Dave Pietsch, and Site Selection Committeemember Del Stapf 2. The purpose of this meeting was to hold a work session dealing with the ongoing future fire facility site selection. The fire department has requested, and the Councl1 had approved an appearance before the Council by Fire Fighter Don Hall who was chairman of the committee to solicit donations in relation to the acquisition of a rescue truck in 1979. Mr. Hall appeared and presented to the Council a check in the amount of $6,750 which was the total composite of all donations received in regard to the above matter. Acting Mayor Leon Orr accepted the check expressing the gratitude of the Council and complimenting the members of the Donation Committee who obtalned the donations and, of course, to the anonymous donors who, in the end, made it possible~ It was decided that the accounting disposition of the money would be decided at a later meeting. 3. The Council then dealt with the report of the Site Selection Study Committee, which had been distributed to the Council and the Fire Chief earlier. The report dealt with five possible sites which had been subjected to preliminpry study and costing. A very lengthy discussion and exchange of views then took place between the officers of the Fire Department and the members of the Council. Motion by Kelly, second by Cook that potential Site #1, located on the west side of #31, approximately 1,200 feet north of #50, and Site #2, located on the west side of #31, approximately 1,600 feet north of #50 be eliminated. APIF, motion carried. 4. Motion by Kuchera, second by Orr that Site #4 located on the east side of 8th Street and Maple Street extended, between Locust and Walnut, be eliminated. APIF, motion carried. 5. It was agreed that one additional site not heretofore considered would be explored be Committeemember Del Stapf; said site location on the west side of #31 across from the Senior High School. 6. A special meeting was set for an additional work session in this matter for 7:00 P.M., March 22, 1982. The Committee members were asked to explore the possibility of a purchase of only two acres on Site #3, located on the east side of 8th Street between Maple and Locust Street extended, and on Site #5 at the northeast corner of Ash and #31. 7.
