COUNCIL MINUTES
SPECIAL
NOVEMBER 28, 1983
1. Mayor Akin called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M.
Present: Mayor Akin, Members Cook, Kelly, Orr, Sprute.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Administrator Thompson.
2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the 1984 non-union employees salaries
and benefits.
3. Administrator Thompson presented the 1984 salary requests from the various de-
partment heads. Discussion followed between the City Council and department heads
Bell, Hince, and Whittingham. It was the consensus of the department heads that
they would like to see wages adjusted position by position, rather than a flat across
the board increase. Councilmember Orr suggested that perhaps there could be a flat
increase, and then an adjustment for each position which would be retroactive
January 1, 1984. It was the consensus of the City Council that it would wait until
the outcome of the arbitration with the police officers was received and then act
on the non-union employees salaries and benefits. The Council directed the Adminis-
trator to submit additional information regarding the requested salaries, and their
impact on the 1984 budget.
4. Motion by Sprute, second by Orr to adjourn at 6:15 P.M. APIF, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Approved
