HomeMy WebLinkAbout12.15.83 Special Council Minutes 239 MINUTES COUNC I L MEET I NG SPECIAL DECEMBER 15, 1983 1. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:45 P.M. Members Present: Mayor Akin, Members Cook, Orr, Sprute. Members Absent: Kelly. Also Present: Administrator Thompson, Finance Director Henneke. 2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the City Fire Contracts with the various township officials. Finance Director Henneke presented a brief overview of the present formula, and a projected fee for 1984. It was generally the consensus of the officials present that the costs associated with the Fire Department were fair, and that the formula was also fair. Concerns were expressed however, concerning the timing of the notification of fees in relation to the townships fiscal year, and the possibility of the City going to a flat mill rate. City Staff was directed by the City Council to investigate the possibility of establishing a means of notifying the townships on a more timely basis. 3. Mayor Akin stated that the special meetings held between the City and the town- ships were an excellent forum for discussing mutual concerns. Mayor Akin stated that he hoped future ~eetings would be called by township officials to discuss additional concerns. 4. The City's ambulance agreement with Divine Redeemer was briefly discussed. It was the consensus of the City Council that the City investigate the possibility of entering into an agreement with a different service organization. Jerry Stelzel indicated that the Sanford Memorial board was considering establishing an ambulance service of its own. It was the consensus of the group that a meeting be tentatively scheduled for January 19, 1984 at 7:45 P.M. at the Dakota County Extension office to discuss ambulance service. 5.
