HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.26.84 Special Council Minutes ?65 MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL MARCH 26, 1984 1. Mayor Akin called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Members Present: Akin, Cook, Kelly, Orr, Sprute. Members Absent: None. Also Present: Administrator Thompson. 2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed Fire Hall. It was the consensus of the City Council that costs would have to be cut from the construction and financing of the project if a referendum were to be successful. 3. Fire Chief Dave Pietsch answered questions regarding areas where cuts could be made in the project. 4. The Council also discussed which firm should be selected as the architect. 5. Motion by Sprute, second by Kelly that Beutow and Associates be appointed as the architects for the proposed Fire Hall project. APIF, motion carried. 6. It was the consensus of the City Council that the Fire Chief, Mayor and City Administrator meet with Tom Dunwell of Beutow and Associates to discuss the proposed project, and to determine the cost of a feasi- bility report for the referendum. 7. Reducing the cost of the project was further discussed. Some suggestions were to delay the start of the project to reduce capi- talized interest, to utilize a lower cost facade, and the possibility of phasing the project in. 8.
