HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.29.79 Special Council Minutes ";, :,.../.,," MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING SPECIAL OCTOBER 29, 1979 1. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:00 P.M. Present: Mayor Akin, Councilmen Johnson, Kuchera, Orr and Whittier Also Present: Administrator Ford and Attorney Gorgos 2. The mayor made reference to the hand delivered written notice that had been sent to all members of the council. The press was present. 3. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the request of Mid-America Dairymen, Inc., that the City issue Municipal Industrial Revenue Bonds to facilitate an expansion of their existing plant in Farmington. Mr. Irv Kilker, Manager, Northern Division and Mr. John Goerss, Plant Manager, presented the request and answered questions put to them. The City Administrator explained briefly the legal base, the purpose and the mechanics of the Industrial Revenue Bond. He commented that if the council proceeded, the matter should be referred to the City's Bond Consultant and Mid-America representatives agreed to pay the consulting fees relative thereto. The City Attorney informed the council that a public hearing in the matter is required prior to any issuance of bonds. Motion by Whittier, second by Orr to adopt Resolution No. R32-79 setting a public hearing to consider the issuance of Industrial Revenue Bonds on behalf of Mid-America Dairymen in the amount of $390,000 for 7:00 P.M., November 19, 1979 and that appropriate public notice of same be made.
