MINUTES
COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL
MARCH 11, 1981
1. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:00 P.M.
Present: Mayor Stegmaier, Members Cook, Cummings, Kuchera and Orr
Also Present: Administrator Ford, Attorney Gorgos
2. The purpose of this meeting was to review and adopt an ordinance of annexation
which would annex to the City of Farmington, certain lands now located within Empire
Township. Mrs. Helen Nordseth, owner and developer of the proposed Riverside Sub-
division, presented to the City Council, a petition for annexation signed by all
interested parties in the land with an endorsement signed at the bottom, by the
Chairman and Clerk of Empire Township which stated that the Town Board of the
Township of Empire had approved the above petition, that they raised no objections
and that they waived the 90 day period normally required for annexation action.
The document was dated March 5, 1981. This petition was presented formally to the
council. Motion by Kuchera, second by Cook that the City Council adopt Ordinance
No. 081-113 annexing certain lands presently located in Empire Township, to the
City of Farmington and the necessary copies of said ordinance be distributed. APIF,
motion carried.
3. Motion by Cummings, second by Kuchera that the City Council direct the City
Administrator to contact Farmington School District officials and urge them to pro-
ceed with the construction of an off-street parking lot on the school grounds of the
Elementary School which is now shown as an alternative on their proposed construction
plan. APIF, motion carried.
4. The Council briefly and informally discussed some involvement on the part of the
City concerning the Farmington High School Band trip to the Cherry Blossum Festival
in Washington, D. C.
5. Motion made and seconded to adjourn at 7:35 P.M.
