Subject: Geographic Information System (GIS) Update
Meeting: Council Work Session - May 06 2024
INTRODUCTION:
In February of 2023, the City Council approved replacing the vacant Engineering Technician
position with a new position, GIS Specialist. It was expected that this position would not only
provide extensive support to Public Works but would also be able to support many other City
departments. Danielle Olson joined the City as GIS Specialist in June of 2023. Given her
outstanding knowledge of GIS, her ability to work collaboratively with all departments, and her
practical approach to problem solving, she has exceeded our expectations for this role.
Danielle will update the City Council on the City's GIS activities over the past year.
DISCUSSION:
A brief overview of information and graphics to be covered during the update is as follows:
GIS in a local government setting and here at Farmington.
Completed tasks, maps, and apps, including Farmington Fix.
Activities in progress.
The future of GIS at Farmington.
GIS development and collaboration activities.
