Call to Order: Chair Pennie Page called meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. Members Present: Pennie Page, Blanche Reichert, Pat Hennen, Rachel Edwards Judy Janke, and Marge Koski Members Absent: Mary Garlets Others Present: Parks and Recreation Director Kellee Omlid and Recreation Supervisor Missie Kohlbeck 2. Approve Agenda Motion by Hennen to approve agenda, seconded by Reichert. All persons in favor (APIF). Motion carried. 3. Approve Minutes Motion by Edwards to approve the October 9, 2023 meeting minutes, seconded by Koski. APIF. Motion carried. 4. Presentations 5. Business Items 6. Discussion Items 6.1. Review Breakfast and Silent Auction Fundraiser The total profit was $3,912.56. Breakfast was served to 114 people and it is estimated 125 people attended the silent auction. There were 78 silent auction baskets/items to bid on. Discussion on changes for next year included ordering food for 150 instead of 200, add a meat side, ask for low salt potatoes, keep the delivery option, and only serve one type of roll. It was suggested to add an activity to make the event more family friendly. Also, it was proposed to invite volunteers to the October 2024 Advisory Board meeting to discuss directions/processes, especially for creating the silent auction baskets. 6.2. Market and Promote the Rambling River Center Trifold brochures are ready to be mailed. Board members and volunteers will prepare the mailing (put labels on and stuff envelopes) to be completed on Friday, November 17. 6.3. Rambling River Center Facility Master Plan Reichert and Janke attended the facility master plan input meeting on October 31, 2023. Reichert really liked the idea of changing the main entrance. Director Omlid reviewed the comments received from members. She also reminded the Rambling River Center Advisory Board (RRCAB) members that currently the plan is high level ideas. Next steps include taking the ideas from the user group meeting and developing draft concept plans. Staff will meet with JLG Architects for further review of the concepts. 6.4. 2024 Work Plan Ideas Board members reviewed the work plan ideas suggested at the October meeting. In addition to: • Fundraising • Recommending fees and charges to the parks and recreation commission and city council • Working with Veteran organizations for more involvement at the Rambling River Center • Educating the community on what seniors need. This could include caregiving, housing, nutrition, when seniors should stop driving, how to access social services, and other important information • Facility master plan The following ideas were suggested: • Parks and facility tour with the parks and recreation commission and city council • Work session with city council • Trip planning for 2025 6.5. Review the 2023 Work Plan Progress Chair Page reviewed the progress of the goals and objectives of the 2023 work plan. 7. Staff Report Informational Updates • The Halloween Walk had nearly 1,200 participants. Four volunteers handed out candy for the Rambling River Center/Parks and Recreation Department. • Staff provided a list of trips scheduled for 2024. • The Trains and Treats event will be held on Saturday, November 25. • The Favor Farmington Expo will not be held in 2024. Over the next year, the future of the Expo will be reevaluated. 8. Advisory Board Roundtable Hennen – Asked where the handrails went. The railings are at JIT Powder Coating getting blasted and repainted. Liked the Wednesday coloring group and glad the books are getting used. Enjoyed the meditation class.
