Currently, there are 12 vendors registered and the Facebook ad will be boosted this week. There is a good variety of vendors so far. 6.2. Collaborate with Veteran’s Groups Board member Janke is still conducting research on veterans and veteran’s groups. During her research, she learned there are currently 18.2 million veterans confined to their premises. She is not exactly sure the direction we should take regarding a collaboration. Janke is receiving the Disabled American Veteran’s (DAV) newsletter and learning more about what the Soldier’s Angels are doing. She is hoping we can help veterans get out of isolation and possibly do a fundraiser for a larger organization. Director Omlid gave Janke, Doug Taube, Yellow Ribbon Network and American Legion Commander’s, cell phone number and email address. Janke is going to contact Taube to learn more about these organizations. 6.3. Educate Community and Caregivers Board member Page reviewed and narrowed some of the ideas discussed. There are three audiences and several topics of information for each. They are listed in no order in the table. Seniors Family Caregivers Families Mental Health Issues Are you a caregiver to a Parent/Spouse? Emphasize the Value of Older Adults Raising/Caring for Grandchildren Support Evaluate Parents Safety Financial Impact Legal Needs Groceries Self-Awareness to Lessen Burnout Financial Needs Benefits Steps to Have Family Assist Normal Aging vs. Dementia Volunteer Services Replacing Smoke Detectors Next steps are to decide who to get the information to and how to do it. The Rambling River Center has and continues to host speakers on many of these topics. Where and how else can we get the information out? For example, do we want information in the doctor’s offices? Do seniors know there is an assessment and a guide for senior housing? Can we put a link to it in the River? Staff will add the Veteran’s Linkage Line (1-888-546-5838) to the list of numbers on the front page of the River. 6.4.
