INTRODUCTION
This year a number of seats on various Boards and Commissions have expired on January 31,
2003. Traditionally the City Council has interviewed incumbents and new applicants for these
positions and ultimately appoints at the following council meeting.
DISCUSSION
Articles were published in the December 12, 2002 and January 16, 2003 issues of the
Farmington Independent and the NovemberlDecember and January/February issues of the City
Newsletter, informing residents of the availability of seats on Boards and Commissions.
Information is also posted on the bulletin board on the Government Channel 16 and the City
website.
The deadline for applications was January 31, 2003. Letters were sent to incumbents notifying
them of the expiration of their term and requesting them to reapply if they were interested. The
following is a list of terms that have expired on January 31, 2003:
Heritage Preservation Commission
3 - three-year terms
1 - one-year term
Park and Recreation Advisory Commission
2 - two-year terms
Planning Commission
2 - two-year terms
Senior Center Advisory Board

The Council has traditionally interviewed on Saturday morning to accommodate the applicants'
schedules. If it is Council's desire to do so again this year, it is recommended that a special
meeting be set for Saturday, February 15,2003 at 7:00 a.m. Interview periods comprised of 15-
minute time slots will be scheduled, and information will be provided to you prior to the
meeting.
ACTION REOUIRED
