Initial suggestions Page 4 of 25 for tour stops include the Rambling River Center, Troy Hill Park, Daisy Knoll Park, and Westview Acres Park if the new playground equipment is installed. Bike Pedestrian Plan Priorities Director Omlid provided an overview of the Bike Pedestrian Plan (Plan) priorities that were recently completed and ones currently in progress. Commission discussed opportunities including wayfinding signs, Geocache program and educating on trails as residents are already using the parks, rating ease of trails, increase knowledge of getting around Farmington, and encourage use of trails with a treasure map with a prize at the end of completion. Putt: Riverview Elementary School Learner’s Showcase is Thursday, May 22. Attended the final boy’s varsity hockey game versus Lakeville South. Parking was bad as cars were blocking the entrance to the west parking lot, cars parked on the grass, car parked in loading zone, and parked on the both sides of the entrance to Boeckman Middle School. It was a dangerous situation as cars parked everywhere and not lit well. Caron: Didn’t have anything to share. Merricks: Didn’t have anything to share. Pewowaruk: Didn’t have anything to share. VIII. Staff Report/Updates Director Omlid provided information on the following: A. Rambling River Center Renovations Director Omlid showed the video of the construction tour. B. Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) Proposals for Environment and Natural Resources Trust Funding The city will be submitting a proposal to the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources for Environment and Natural Resources Trust Funding for reconstruction of the trails through Rambling River Park, construction of a new restroom building, and trailhead amenities (e.g., kiosk, bike fix-it-station, benches). HKGi and the city’s Regional Funding Manager are collaborating on the proposal. Proposals are due March 19 with funding becoming available July 1, 2026. C. Mystic Meadows Park Location Updated Concept The updated concept with the park location in the northwest corner was included in the packet. There will need to be some type of barrier in the park on the east side so there is no encroachment into the park by the homeowners whose property abuts the park. This concept Page 5 of 25 was presented to the Planning Commission last night at their meeting. There are concerns with the transportation in the concept that need to be addressed. IX. Tennis Courts Tennis courts can be found in Erickson Park at 14115 Brazil Avenue. The City of Rosemount built 4 new courts with the help of a grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The courts are equipped with lights for nighttime play. Courts can also be found at Bloomfield, Charlies and Claret parks. GaGa Pits GaGa Pits are located at Camfield and Greystone Parks. Gaga ball is a game somewhat like dodge-ball but played with a foam ball, and in an octagonal court or gaga pit. The game combines dodging, striking, running, and jumping, with the object of being the last person standing. Players hit the ball at each other with their hands and are eliminated if the ball strikes them on or below the knee. The game can be played by a group of individual players or with teams, as well as in one-on-one match-es. Give it a try this summer! Zip Lines Zip lines can be found at Ailesbury and Schwarz Pond Parks. HammocksHammock Use in City Parks – Hammocks are okay to use in City parks and the City actually encourages people to find a spot to hang out. Often our City parks have mature trees that can be used to attach your “mock” to or you can also use the poles of a small sun shelter or playground to tie up to. This summer the City will be looking at adding places to hang your hammock in parks. Pickleball The 12 Rosemount Pickleball Courts near UMore Ballfields should be ready by early summer. In addition, enjoy Pickleball at Claret Park. We will also be resurfacing the tennis courts at Bloomfield and Claret Parks, adding permanent Pickleball lines.
