A subcommittee for this event will be created at the March meeting. Page 5 of 25 Page recommended making sure we have vendor IDs so volunteers sitting at the entrance do not keep repeating information to the vendors that is intended for the attendees. We had vendor IDs last year; they may not have been handed out. This year we will make sure to have the volunteers hand out the vendor IDs. We will put the lawn signs out the Monday before the event; it was also suggested to have some signs posted around town to attend and register as a vendor. Discussed how last year Faith Methodist Church, Community Room, and the Rambling River Center all had craft events the same day. Staff will contact both organizations and see if they are doing their events again this year, if so, if we can advertise together. 6.4 Volunteer Recognition and Thank You Event The subcommittee of Edwards and Janke collaborated with staff to schedule the event for Thursday, April 9 at 1:30 pm. Staff scheduled Gary Rue as entertainment. The board and staff will serve cake, ice cream, and coffee. We have 52 volunteers plus the weekly high school students; we are planning for 60-70 volunteers. Board members want handwritten thank you notes to give to the volunteers. Staff will bring thank you’ s and volunteer names and addresses to the March meeting. Decorations and banners have been ordered. Recommended for the volunteer thank you bags: o Thank you card o Life Savers with volunteers are our “life savers" daily o Ink pens that have written thank you notes on them o Page brought two Cricut gift boxes as examples that could hold the lifesavers and the other a chocolate bar ▪ Staff will ask a Rambling River Center volunteer, who does the Cricut classes, to provide an estimate of time and cost to do gift boxes. Staff will forward information to the subcommittee. Invitations will be mailed to volunteers. Subcommittee is still looking into centerpieces. 6.5 Top the Tater Days Discussion regarding the bike auction and Kiss the Pig as the fundraisers, along with the train display, and waffle breakfast traffic. Discussed adding a bake sale or lemonade and cookies. The board is not sure on time and that it would / may compete with food trucks. Discussed highlighting Rambling River Center membership and rentals. Discussed an event that would have more of an informational focus instead of a fundraiser. Board members then discussed the Top the Tater Day’s schedule: Thursday the Library is tentatively doing a trivia event from 4-5 pm, there is also a blood drive at the Rambling River Center on Friday. On Saturday morning, the waffle breakfast will be entering and exiting through the patio directly to the large tent. Page 6 of 25 Reminder that July is the 250th anniversary of American freedom and there may be fireworks on Friday night of Top the Tater Days to celebrate. Discussion regarding having something at RRC during the week. Concerns include having enough volunteers to do something. 6.6 2026 Work Plan Progress Chair Garlets reviewed the progress of the goals and objectives of the 2026 Work Plan. Goal #1 At the March meeting, the board will form a subcommittee to plan the details for a veteran’s event to be held in the summer. Ideas include having a picnic on the patio with hot dogs and chips. It was suggested to check with the VFW and/or American Legion to see if they would want to partner on an event. Goal #4 Questions about the curb and striping parking lines in front of the McKnight Fitness Center; Director Omlid stated this is on the agenda for an upcoming meeting with Public Works, so will have more information next month. Goal #5 The parks and facility tour usually happens in August and Director Omlid will share the proposed date at the March meeting. Goal #8 The tri-fold brochure needs to be updated with new pictures of the renovated Rambling River Center. 7. Staff Report 7.1 Informational Updates • Membership is currently at 406. • The adult changing station has been installed; staff are waiting to hear back from Koala Care to confirm it is ready to be used. Once it is confirmed, Building Maintenance will post the signs. The board had approved paying for the additional installation costs of $6,126 out of fundraising / donation monies, but staff went back to Dakota County to ask if there was additional funding available to assist with the increased installation costs. The Communities for All review committee agreed to fund the extra, unanticipated installation costs. Staff will bring a thank you card to the March meeting, so board members can sign it to send to Dakota County. • Roof top units have been fixed and there will be training on Wednesday for staff to learn more about the operations and controls. 8.1. Advisory Board Roundtable Page - Mentioned the Joy Collaborative, she is on the Board of Directors, and this nonprofit offers sensory input rooms and maybe this would be good for Top the Tator Days.
